Romans 1:16–17
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

When Paul faced hostility and danger in Jerusalem, God gave him a vision to keep going, assuring him he wasn’t finished yet. Even though people wanted him gone, Paul knew his mission was far from over. His letter to the Romans was like his “life message” about the power of faith—written from Corinth, carried by a trusted friend, and packed with everything Paul wanted this new church in Rome to understand.

In Romans 1:16–17, Paul lays it all out: real faith means living boldly for Jesus, no matter what. This kind of faith is more than just a one-time thing. It’s a lifelong journey—one step of faith after another.

Real Talk: Why This Matters
Paul wasn’t just talking big—he was living this stuff. He’d been beaten, mocked, and even imprisoned for sharing the gospel, but he never let fear keep him from sharing Jesus. His courage reminds us that faith is not about just blending in; it’s about letting God’s truth shine, especially when it’s hard.

Being bold for Jesus in today’s world isn’t easy. You might feel like standing up for what you believe makes you weird or risks judgment from friends. But think about how the gospel has the power to change lives. That power is worth sharing, and it starts with the little things—showing kindness, inviting someone to church, or even just not hiding your faith.

Take Action This Week
Challenge: Find one way to step out in faith this week. Maybe it’s inviting a friend to youth group, praying for someone who’s going through a tough time, or standing up for what’s right. Choose one thing and go for it!

  • Example: If talking about faith makes you nervous, start with something simple. Wear a faith-based shirt or put a verse in your bio on social media. Small steps can make a big impact.

Make it your goal to be bold in your faith! Think of it as training for your spiritual journey. The more you step out, the stronger your faith will become, and the more natural it will feel to live out the gospel every day.

Prayer
“Jesus, sometimes I get scared to show my faith, especially around friends. Help me to be bold like Paul and stand strong in Your love. Give me courage to live my faith out loud, even when it’s hard. Show me how to be a light to others this week, and help me trust that You’re always with me.

In the name of Jesus, amen.”
