Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Let’s Get the Big Picture
Paul wrote the Book of Romans to help people understand what it means to follow Jesus. In chapter 10, Paul explains how important faith is for us to be saved. Back in Paul’s time, many Jewish people wanted to please God but didn’t realize that following rules wasn’t enough. They needed to put their faith in Jesus, the Savior. They had the wrong idea about how to be right with God.
Imagine this: You’re standing in front of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil, a giant statue of Jesus with His arms open wide. But let’s say the escalators and elevators are broken, and you can’t get to the top. It’s kind of like how some people felt far from God because they didn’t understand how to reach Him. Paul’s message is clear: Jesus is the way, and faith is how we reach Him.

Making It Real
- Trusting God Instead of Rules: Sometimes, we think being a good person or following a bunch of rules will make God happy. But the truth is, God wants us to trust Him and believe in Jesus. Think about something you’ve tried really hard to do right, maybe to impress someone or prove yourself. Now, think about how God just wants you to believe and trust Him. Isn’t that a relief?
- Faith Means Taking Action: The Bible tells us faith isn’t just about what we believe—it’s also about what we do. When you believe in Jesus, you want to live differently. Maybe that looks like being kinder to your siblings, telling the truth even when it’s hard, or standing up for someone who is being picked on. What action could you take this week to show your faith in Jesus?
- Sharing the Good News: Paul says that people need to hear about Jesus so they can believe. Is there someone you know who needs to hear about Jesus? It could be a friend, a classmate, or even someone in your family. You don’t have to give a big speech; just be yourself and let God’s love shine through you.

Take Action This Week
- Listen to God’s Word Daily: Pick a time each day to hear God’s Word. You can listen to it using a Bible app or read a short passage before school. Think about what God might be saying to you and how it can help you through your day.
- Faith in Real Life: Do one thing this week to put your faith into action. It could be helping someone without expecting anything back, praying for a friend, or inviting someone to youth group. Remember, faith isn’t just what we say—it’s how we live.
- Pray for Others: Make a list of people you know who need to hear about Jesus or who might be going through a tough time. Pray for them and ask God to give you opportunities to be a light in their lives.

Prayer
“Dear God, thank You for giving us Your Word so our faith can grow. Help us not to just follow rules but to really trust and believe in Jesus. Show us ways we can live out our faith and help others hear about You. We pray for the people who don’t know You yet—use us to show them Your love. In the name of Jesus, amen."
